Continuous Press Chain Blanket Components Explained

The chain-blanket area of a continuous wood-based panel press combines moving chains/rolling elements and supporting wear parts that must remain synchronized through heat and pressure.

Typical component families

Maintenance projects commonly involve chains, rolling rods or rollers, pins, disc/butterfly springs, friction or wear plates, bearings, retaining/guide plates and related drive sprockets. Steel belts are another critical element of the continuous pressing system.

Why parts should be reviewed as a system

A new chain running on worn sprockets or with damaged guides can show accelerated wear. When abnormal wear is reported, inspect chain, sprocket tooth form, rolling elements, bearings, guides and lubrication together.

Replacement documentation

For each component, record installed code, dimensioned sketch, material or hardness requirement if known, wear location and quantity. This makes it easier to separate normal wear parts from geometry problems or alignment issues.
